Banish Breakouts For Good

Breakthrough Acne Solutions

In America alone, 50 million people struggle with acne every year.

People of all ages, genders, and backgrounds can experience breakouts, and the roadmap to clear skin can be convoluted. Acne doesn’t just knock your confidence—which can negatively impact your personal and professional relationships in itself—it can also cause your skin’s long-term health to decline and lead to permanent scarring.

We understand how frustrating wasting time and money on ineffective “one-size-fits-all” facials and “miracle” creams can be. From what makeup and skincare products you use to your diet, genetics, and hormone levels, more factors determine your skin’s health than you may think. Sadly, it’s not as simple as buying a viral product. Your skin is just as unique as you are, which means that you have to understand what’s going on beneath the surface to initiate change.

At Gleam Medical Spa, we’re clearing the path to clearer, healthier skin, and that looks different for everyone.  If you’re on the hunt for the right acne treatment in Denver, CO, look no further than our skin specialists for personalized, compassionate care and proven, science-backed results.

What Is Acne?

Acne is the most common skin condition, and it’s rooted in congestion. Your skin’s sebaceous glands—your body’s oil production center—connect to your hair follicles. Ideally, these glands release sebum, pushing out debris and dead skin cells at the surface. However, when someone develops acne, these glands can’t push out these cells due to a blockage.

When your pores get clogged with natural oils, dead skin cells, leftover products, and other debris, bacterium begins to grow, triggering inflammation. This bacteria, known as propionibacterium acnes, spreads quickly, leading to blemishes. These microscopic cells disarm your immune system, turning them into accomplices rather than enemies. This leaves you with two options—preventative treatments to avoid congestion, and active treatments to alleviate existing congestion.

Kinds of Acne

All acne, breakouts, pimples, and zits are not the same, no matter what you call them. There are several different kinds of acne, each of which presents itself in different ways and requires a different kind of acne treatment in Denver, including:

Cystic Acne: Cysts are a severe form of inflammatory acne, which results in painful, pus-filled pimples. These pimples are deeper than “normal” and difficult to “pop,” which means that the chances of scarring are much higher.

Hormonal Acne: Also referred to as adult-onset acne, hormonal acne is rooted in overproductive sebum glands. Androgens—reproductive hormones—play an important role in combatting acne bacteria, which can cause issues when your hormone levels shift from puberty to menopause.

Fungal Acne: Fungal acne, also known as pityrosporum folliculitis, is a kind of yeast infection that occurs along your pores’ hair follicles. This kind of infection can trigger itching and inflammation, typically grouped in small clusters of persistent bumps.

Nodular Acne: This kind of acne causes surface-level breakouts and hard, underlying “knots”—nodules—beneath the surface. These red bumps don’t typically have a white or black head, as inflammation is rooted internally, causing consistent discomfort.
